Project Overview

This project included a remodel of 29,000-square-feet of Hastings Public Library and an addition of 2,200 square feet. Changes include new, larger and more dynamic areas for children and young adults, a new 150-person, sub-dividable community room with a warming kitchen, and a new outdoor patio adjacent to the popular library area.

The lower level will be reconfigured to accommodate an archive collection, freeing up more floor space on the upper levels, and will house 2,800 square feet of flexible Maker Space. Relocating the main entrance from the north side of the building to the southwest corner eliminated the need for steps, improved thermal performance, and provided a dynamic new face for the library.
